The major combines a comprehensive management foundation with an application of the practicalities of political and social policy making. The student will gain an understanding of the significant expansion of the public sector during the twentieth century, and the resulting pro-life ration of laws, rules and regulations, and problems associated with effective change in that environment. Specific courses will focus on the challenges of problem solving in public bureaucracies; federal, state, and municipal governments and politics; current issues and problems in constitutional law; society's response to social problems; and the administration of social agencies.
