Political Science from Hartwick College is a Campus Bachelor Public Administration degree that prepares you for a Human Services career. The study of political science enables students to acquire an inquisitive and critical outlook on the political universe around them. Our curriculum is designed to help students meet the intellectual and moral challenges of citizenship. The department frequently directs off-campus January Term programs to locations all over the globe. In January 2007 the department led programs to England and China. In 2006, the department led a program in Sri Lanka, during which students spent 3 weeks studying the country, touring the island's historic sites, and doing volunteer work with tsunami refugees. The political science faculty is committed to teaching excellence. Beyond off-campus programs, the faculty regularly integrate hands-on learning experiences into their classes such as United Nations and Supreme Court simulations, and community-based research. Political science majors have opportunities to work closely with faculty on research projects both as research assistants and as co-authors. Political science majors also have a successful record of presenting their own research at political science conferences and have even published their work in professional journals. Political science majors also have the opportunity to participate in Model UN, get involved in our award-winning chapter of the national political science honor society, and do internships for academic credit.
