Recording Arts from Hartford Conservatory is a Campus Certificate Communication Technologies degree that prepares you for a Communications career. The two-year Recording Arts major is uniquely designed to provide rigorous and practical professional training in the field of sound recording. Our goal is to graduate students proficient in all areas of recording arts. Students will obtain the tools to evaluate the quality of song writing; they will learn how to guide, enhance and create a viable product for the music industry. At the Hartford Conservatory Recording Arts students learn how to be recording industry producers. Being a successful producer means having knowledge of music itself; theory, arranging, sight reading, song writing as well as the ability to make music. Recording Arts students take courses in all these important areas. A music audition is required of all applicants to the program. Students will have opportunities to learn about the business side of the industry, creating and working with budgets, studio session planning, time management and career strategies. In-house performing and recording sessions are built into the curriculum to provide significant, practical experience.
