COURSE DESCRIPTION: Instruction and Practical Application of knowledge and skills is directed toward the repair and service of electrical and gas appliances such as washers, dryers, ranges, microwave ovens, refrigerators and window air conditioners. Students will attend lectures to learn theory and application while working on real appliances to develop job skills in a workshop setting. Students develop skills on how to read wiring diagrams and schematics for application in electrical diagnoses. Students are prepared for the refrigerant recovery (Type I) certification test of 5 lbs. or less for small appliances. GOALS: Students will: Upon course completion, students will demonstrate skills in: Demonstrate knowledge of basics in the diagnoses and repair of major appliances to become a productive worker as an entry level in-home service professional. Using technology, develop fundamental skills for tracing and completing electrical circuits for major appliances.
