Interior Decorating and Finishing from Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center is a Campus Certificate Design degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. Although this course is planned to prepare students for gainful employment upon graduation, it also provides an excellent springboard for those students who want to continue their education at a University or Art and Design School. Within three years (1500 hours of class time), we cover both residential and commercial design and decorating. Another area of concentration is ?wall finishing.? Students will hang, seam, sand, and prime drywall. They will learn to create faux finishes, paint, and hang wall coverings. The extra skills enhance the student's ability to work with clients, contractors, and builders. It will also give the student other opportunities after graduation. Students can specialize in the decorating or finishing field. Jobs are available in each area of the field and depend on the individual's talent, skill level, and training. Students that complete the program will graduate as an Interior Decorator. Interior Designers are more prominent in the larger cities; however, there are over 90 prospective employers within the Blair County Area that hire interior decorators or specialized sales associates within the decorating field.
