Emergency Services from Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center is a Campus Certificate Emergency Management degree that prepares you for a Human Services career. Emergency Services is a three-year program providing students with a solid foundation of skills common to public safety including law enforcement, emergency medical services (EMS), and fire fighting. Subject areas include training in the criminal justice system, crime prevention , criminal investigation, building and grounds security , and emergency communications and report writing. Emergency medical services include rescue, First Responder and CPR training. The fire fighting component includes fire fighting techniques, handling hazardous materials, and fire investigation. Students need to be in good physical condition to complete the course.Students also have the opportunity to become EMTs.
