Emergency Medical Services Basic Program (EMT Basic) Gogebic Community College offers two EMS Basic programs to prepare students to take the licensure examination to become EMT Basics (Specialized Study and Certificate). GCC offers an EMS Basic certificate program (started every other year) preparing students to take the licensing examination to become EMT Basics. The State of Michigan fully approves the program. The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools accredits GCC. The EMS Basic Program prepares students to provide skilled and safe care in a variety of settings. All applicants must meet admission requirements. High school or college course work should include a year each of biology, chemistry, and algebra.
