General Education from Germanna Community College is a Campus Certificate Education Science degree that prepares you for a Education career. Purpose: The General Education certificate is intended to remind/alert students who have completed the general education core of courses that they are well on their way to earning an associate degree at Germanna Community College . The associate degree is the gateway for student transfer to a senior institution via one of the many articulation agreements currently available to VCCS students. For students who are uncertain about their educational goals, this curriculum offers sufficient flexibility so that students may take courses that are accepted at most public four-year institutions in a wide variety of baccalaureate degree programs. It also provides greater opportunity than that offered in other college-transfer programs for the student to take courses that emphasize areas of academic strength and interest. Students are urged to acquaint themselves with the requirements of the major department in planning their programs. Admission Requirements: In addition to the general requirements for admission to the College, all entering students will be required to take placement tests in math, writing, and reading to aid in placing students in the appropriate courses.
