Program Description The Accelerated Teacher Certification Program offers three types of certification: Elementary Dual Teacher Certification with Teacher of Students with Disabilities Endorsement (K-5) Elementary/Middle School Dual Teacher Certification with Teacher of Students with Disabilities Endorsement (K-8) Specific Subject Area Dual Teacher Certification with Teacher of Students with Disabilities Endorsement (Secondary Certification) The Accelerated Dual Teacher certification Cohort Program is designed for students with a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university who have chosen to enter the teaching profession. This unique, nine month, 39 credit, full time certification program benefits the students through intense coursework with an emphasis upon enriched field experiences. There are three phases to the accelerated program that correspond to the three trimester's field experiences: Phases one and two are 10 week sessions combining day or evening classes to complete the state-approved requirements for teaching certification along with daytime field experiences. Phase three is the 15-week, full-time student teaching field experience. Program Highlights Students will earn 39 credits in nine months through two 10-week semesters capped by 15 weeks of student teaching. Students will attend class Monday through Thursday and apply what they have learned in a district classroom on Friday for the first twenty weeks. At the end of the student teaching experience, they will achieve a state-approved dual certification in general & special education . There is a Praxis II certification requirement.
