Doctor's degree Neurobiology & Behavior from Georgia State University is a Campus Ph.D Neuroscience degree that prepares you for a Science career. Students in Neurobiology & Behavior (NB) have many options available to them. They can work with any member of the Neuroscience Graduate Group, which includes members of the Psychology Department. Students also are eligible for fellowships to do interdisciplinary work through the Brains & Behavior Program. Our students are all supported by highly competitive stipends. Our graduates have gone on to do post-doctoral research in prestigous labs at places such as University of Pennsylvania, and Northwestern University and have gone on to get faculty positions at places such as Case Western Reserve University. Other graduates have chosen careers in Medicine or working for government agencies. The graduate students in Neurobiology and Behavior are a diverse group from around the country and around the world. Students choose our program for a number of reasons including the desire to work with a particular faculty member and/or the personal attention and mentoring provided by our faculty. In addition, we have incredible resources that are provided in part by the Georgia Research Alliance and also through the greater Atlanta neuroscience community. For example, students have the opportunity of joining the Center for Behavioral Neuroscience (CBN) as CBN Graduate Scholars which allows them, among other things to do rotations in labs at Emory University, Georgia Tech, or the Atlanta University Center including Morehouse Medical School. Ph.D. students receive a competitive stipend throughout their entire graduate career and receive important instruction not only in the neurosciences, but also in grant-writing, scientific presentation, and teaching skills.
