Professional level training and concentration in art are offered to the student within the content of the baccalaureate degree. The program is designed in the belief that it is sound critical thinking as well as talent or skill that forms the basis of the production of art . Problem solving, frequent critiques, and student responsibility for reasoned explication of his or her work form an important part of the educational process. After a demonstration of competence in the foundation areas of drawing and design, the student will become familiar with a wide range of materials and media to eventually concentrate in a particular area (drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, photography, sculpture, glassblowing, and graphic/computer design) at the upper division level. Competence at this level is demonstrated by successful participation in a required senior exhibition and a written thesis.
