A hydrologic technician is a professional person who generally works in the outdoors taking water samples and fl ow measurements, installing gages, surveying across sections and the like, and then analyzes the data to determine if the water meets standards, or to establish historical data to reference. At the present, several jobs will be available locally over the next five years. GateWay offers a program to meet public and private industry needs for a hydrologic technician. This program is unique in that it entails a great deal of field experiences and an internship in which students are able to gain valuable experience working in this field. This program is the only two-year degree program of this kind in the state of Arizona and is endorsed by the U.S. Geological Survey as a national feeder school for hydrologic technicians.
