The Fire/Rescue Science Technology program offers training to volunteer, combination and career fire departments as well as businesses, industries, ambulance services and rescue squads across Kentucky. Much of the training qualifies for college credit; credits earned are recorded by the college. Training provided by State Fire Rescue Training staff may be acquired and accumulated to fulfill core curriculum components for program credentials. EMT training is provided to fire , rescue and other emergency response agencies as well as business, industry, institutional and governmental agencies. Career Opportunities Emergency Medical Technician students learn how to care properly for sick and injured patients. Students are trained to treat victims of traumatic or medical emergencies, such as broken bones, puncture wounds, cardiac and respiratory emergencies, vehicle accidents and more. The EMT course meets the standards of the US Department of Transportation National Standard Curriculum for EMT-Basic and the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services. Successful course completion prepares students for the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services certification process but does not guarantee certification.
