The CIS department operates three laboratories?a teaching lab, a multimedia lab and a networking lab. The CIS department is a chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM Chapter) and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). All Gannon computer science students develop a prototype system as their senior design capstone project. The prototype provides analysis, design and development experience through a team-based effort. Gannon's computer science program is accredited by the ABET Computing Accreditation Commission.
