Animal Laboratory Technology from Front Range Community College is a Campus Certificate Animal Science degree that prepares you for a Agriculture career. The program is under development with the intent that classes will begin in the fall term 2009. Biomedical research facilities are regulated by stringent guidelines that encourage certification of workers by the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS). AALAS certification ensures worker knowledge and competence in all facets of laboratory animal care and greatly facilitates institutions in obtaining facility accreditation. FRCC is working with CSU's Laboratory Animal Resources, a major employer of laboratory animal workers, to create and deliver the AALAS exam preparation and also to develop a 2-year associate degree that will provide preparation for and the qualifications necessary to take the ALAT and the LAT exams and a one semester certificate track that will provide training for entry level employment in laboratory animal care. For students employed in the field, and who meet the AALAS (Association of Laboratory Animal Science) work experience requirement for technician certification examination, two exam preparatory courses will be offered. Most students will complete a minimum 160 hour internship in a biomedical research facility as coordinated by the program. View more details on Front Range Community College .
