The Ph.D. program is intimate and extremely competitive, offering full funding (tuition and stipend) to every accepted student; a very high percentage of our students receive tenure-track positions on completion of the program. Fordham's English faculty are widely published, prize-winning scholars who share a commitment to rigorous and imaginative teaching, research, and criticism. The program offers close interaction between professor and student, as well as ancillary seminars, readings and lectures, ranging from an annual panel on academic publishing to a seminar just for students writing dissertations. While the Ph.D. program is fully funded, some fellowships are available at the M.A. level, and full-time M.A. applicants are encouraged to apply. Summer research support is available on a competitive basis, as are dissertation-year fellowships and research assistantships.
