Program Format: Campus Program Level: Bachelor

Theatre from Florida Southern College is a Campus Bachelor Theatre degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. Program Description How We Teach We present four main stage productions each year and provide ample opportunity for student productions. We have two full-time faculty members, both with terminal degrees in their field, and two part-time instructors. One of the full-time professors directs two of the main stage productions and teaches acting and directing classes. The other full-time faculty member designs and builds sets in addition to teaching the technical theatre courses. The other main stage productions are directed by adjunct faculty members or more frequently by prominent Central Florida professional directors. In fact, we strive to use educators who have been successful on the professional level in order to better instill a professional attitude in our students. Who Will Suceed We are seeking students who have the dedication necessary to apply themselves to attain success in their chosen profession. With the right dedication from you, we will nurture your talent and instill the discipline to assure your success in your career. It should be noted that freshman scholarship money is available and all students interested in majoring in Theatre Arts are invited to audition for a scholarship. The maximum amount for any one student is $2500.00 per year, or $10,000.00 over a four-year career. How You'll Benefit There's a major difference between FSC and a larger university, and our graduates believe that difference is an important one. A theatre major at a large school typically plays only one or two roles during an entire college career, usually in the junior or senior year. In contrast, our students have the opportunity to perform major roles right away and continue throughout their four years. We also offer you the opportunity to direct, design, stage manage, act in, and even produce a number of student productions-and there's simply no substitute for this kind of "hands on" experience in the theatre.
