The Nurse Educator program requires the graduate student to complete 37 semester hours, one semester in a clinical setting, one semester in an education setting, and a scholarly project. Graduates are prepared for the Certified Nurse Educator examination offered through the National League for Nursing. Prepare for advanced nursing practice role of the Clinical Nurse Specialist. The CNS program requires the graduate student to complete 39 semester hours, 504 clinical practice hours over 3 semesters, and an independent research project. Graduates are prepared for the national certification examination as a Clinical Specialist in Medical-Surgical Nursing through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Florida Southern College offers two entry paths to attain the Master???s degree. 1. If you are a licensed Registered Nurse and have a bachelor's degree (nursing or non-nursing), you may apply for direct admission to the Nursing MS program. Undergraduate pre-requisite courses are required in health assessment, research, and statistics. You may be admitted pending candidacy if you lack one of these courses. 2. If you have an Associate degree in nursing and know that your ultimate goal is a Master's degree in nursing, ask about the accelerated AS to MS track. In this accelerated track, you will complete all undergraduate nursing courses before being admitted to candidacy in the graduate degree. 18 undergraduate credits are waived, saving you about one year to completion of the Nursing MS.
