The program also emphasizes development of Web/Internet-based business information systems such as e-commerce. The CIS program consists of technical courses such as programming languages, data structures, database systems, networking and data communications, and information systems organization with emphasis on the business environment. CIS students will have both a business and technical foundation that will enable them to pursue either a business career or a technical career with an understanding of how technology facilitates business objectives and how business objectives need computer information systems to achieve their goals. The CIS major prepares students for possible careers as technical support specialist, computer operator, database administrator, database programmer, system analyst and design, software engineer, web application developer, network administrator, network security specialist, i nformation systems specialist, and multimedia specialist. The CIS major and its curriculum aim to provide expertise in the Information Sciences Body of knowledge as specified by the ACM and IEEE Computer Society Joint Task Force on Information Sciences Curricula. Program Educational Objectives The main objective of the BS in Computer Information Systems program is to produce graduates who will have the following: 1. The acquisition of quantitative, analytical, problem-solving, and modern business, programming, and technology skills needed to perform effectively in a business environment as an information scientist as well as a graduate student. 2.
