Some technicians gain experience and later assume supervisory roles or become self-employed. 2-year Associate of Applied Science Degree The Associate of Applied Science degree , with a major in Machine Tool Technology , is a four-semester program that contains technical, advanced technical and general education courses. Graduates will possess the knowledge and skills needed to program, tool and operate CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) mills and lathes.
