The Industry: Students successfully completing courses in the Industrial Engineering Technology program will develop the skills to install, service and repair machines and equipment common to all industries. Industrial Engineering Technicians are employed in almost every type of industry. Within many of the industries they may assist in performing maintenance tasks as assigned requiring application of gained knowledge and skills including trouble-shooting, repairs, reworks and preventive maintenance. They must perform demanding tasks such as using test equipment, interpreting procedures and schematics, and providing documentation. Industrial Engineering Technicians can work both independently and in teams. They install electrical circuits and conduit; rewire; recover, reclaim, and recycle freon; program controllers; build hydraulic and pneumatic circuits. Physical dexterity and heavy weight lifting is required, as well as the ability to work in confined spaces, on scaffolding and ladder rigging. Industrial Engineering Technicians perform tasks both indoors and outdoors. They must adhere to safe work practices and to all company procedures and policies at all times. 2-year Associate of Applied Science Degree The Associate of Applied Science degree , with a major in Industrial Engineering Technology, is a four-semester program that contains technical, advanced technical and general education courses. Graduates will have the knowledge and skills needed to install, service and repair machines and equipment common to all industries.
