DEGREE REQUIREMENTS The graduate program in Jazz/Commercial Music is offered with concentrations in Performance, Composition/Arranging, Music History, and Music Technology. It provides qualified students the opportunity to advance their study and research in the field of music and earn a Master of Music degree (M.M.). The program is designed to meet the needs of professional musicians, audio recording engineers, music business executives, multimedia specialists, and active professionals working in the music industry, music education, or a musicrelated field. Courses of study are flexible and designed to complement past experience and assist students in reaching current and future goals. Students meet each semester with the Graduate Advisor to plan their academic program. Students must satisfactorily complete at least 36 credits of approved graduate courses with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0. Thirty of these credits must be completed in residence in order to be eligible for the Master's Degree. Undergraduate courses (100-400 level) may not be counted for credit toward a master's degree . The graduate program leading to the Master of Music Degree is planned for three semesters of full-time study. Many students, however, take two years or more to complete all requirements. Graduate courses are scheduled for the late afternoon or early evening for the convenience of working students. Candidates for the master's degree must complete all requirements within five years of the date of matriculation.
