The department is particularly proud of its Institute for Research and Technology Transfer (IRTT), which contains the latest automated commercial CNC Turning & Milling Centers, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Vision Controlled Pick and Place Robot, Laser Cutting Machine, Thermal Spray (HVOF) Machine, Rapid Prototyping Machine and Fuel Cell Research. Advanced design and manufacturing computer programs such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) are run on the latest PCs. Courses in Electronic Packaging Applications, Robotics, Occupational Safety, HVAC System Design and Energy Management complement traditional courses providing graduates with a well balanced background. Students benefit from the close relationship between the College and local industry through a required senior project that is an integrating/ capstone experience. Designed to meet TAC/ABET (Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) requirements, accreditation will be received after the first graduating class.
