Program Objectives The primary goal of the graduate program in teacher education is to develop the qualities of the master teacher, which are reflected in the program's five objectives. Emphasis throughout is on empowering teachers with the knowledge, skills and dispositions necessary to become instructional leaders and outstanding contributors to their profession. Objective 1: Instructional Expertise M.Ed. candidates will demonstrate instructional expertise by applying the theoretical, philosophical and research bases for educational practice in K-12 settings to improve student learning. Objective 2: Knowledge of Learners and Learning M.Ed. candidates will incorporate knowledge of the nature of the learner, learning processes, variations in learning abilities and strategies for evaluating learning into the planning, delivery and evaluation of instruction. Objective 3: Content Knowledge M.Ed. candidates will demonstrate advanced depth and breadth of knowledge and skills in the academic disciplines and in education. Objective 4: Research Skill M.Ed. candidates will use research to examine and improve instructional effectiveness and student achievement.
