Art Education from Eastern Kentucky University is a Campus Master Teaching degree that prepares you for a Education career. Students accepted into the graduate program in Art Education may choose to work toward the master's degree under one of two curricula: Plan A or Plan B. Plan A ? Thesis Option Plan A requires at least 30 hours of graduate course work and the successful completion of an MA Thesis or graduate project. The 30 hours of course work must include 9 to 12 graduate credit hours in art education; 9 to 12 graduate credit hours in Art History or Art Studio; and the remaining 9 graduate credit hours may be taken in related course work in the College of Fine Arts , the College of Education, or elsewhere in the University, as well as in the Department of Art. The student's Graduate Advisory Committee oversees the development and completion of the Thesis or final project and administers a Final Examination. The program leads to Rank I or Rank II certification depending on whether the student entered with initial certification or Rank II. Plan B ? Non-thesis Option Plan B requires candidates to complete 36 credit hours of graduate course work. At least 24 of the credit hours should be taken in the Department of Art and are to be divided as follows: 12 to 15 graduate credit hours in Art Education and 9 to 12 graduate credit hours in Art History or Art Studio. The remaining 12 graduate credit hours may be taken in related course work in the College of Fine Arts , the College of Education, or elsewhere in the University, as well as in the Department of Art.
