The assistant may perform certain laboratory tests, take X-rays or EKGs, or assist with diagnostic and minor surgical procedures and the administration of injections or other medications. Qualified students are enrolled in the one-year accelerated certificate program. Upon successful completion of the certificate program, the student may complete the required credits for the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Assisting in the day or evening. Upon completion of the Medical Assisting Program, the student will be able to: 1. Perform entry-level clinical procedures. 2. Perform entry-level administrative procedures. 3.
