Program Description Cosmetology includes classroom and laboratory instruction in all phases of beauty culture. Students study anatomy (facial muscles and bone structure), physiology, bacteriology, applied chemistry, public relations, and personality development. Students learn theory of makeup and hair styling under the supervision of professional cosmetologists. They practice on manikins and live models giving facial makeup analyses, manicures, pedicures, and all hair services (cutting, styling, curling, relaxing, lightening, and coloring). Upon successful completion of graduation requirements, the student is eligible to apply for the Cosmetology State Board Exam to become a licensed Master Cosmetologist. Employment Opportunities When the student has passed the Cosmetology State Board Exam, he/she will be able to work in a salon as an operator or manager and perform hair and skin services along with nail services. As a professional, he/she may choose to become a platform stylist, product technician, sales representative, or cosmetology instructor's assistant.
