Program Description The Automotive Technology program includes all the training offered by the Automotive Fundamentals program plus an additional quarter that includes advanced instruction on transmission, brake, suspension and steering, and engine control systems. Graduates are ready for work as service technicians at new and used car dealerships, garages, and rental agencies. Training in the program also prepares graduates to work as general mechanical technicians, service managers, supervisors, parts managers, and other related jobs in marketing and sales. The program uses the latest diagnostics and test equipment required to troubleshoot and repair automobiles, including engine analyzers, dynamometers, wheel alignment equipment, valve grinding equipment, brake lathes, and piston honing machines. Guest speakers from area auto dealerships and engine repair and rebuilding businesses, plus an opportunity for a final quarter internship, round out training with a real life approach.
