Graduates are, therefore, able to meet the competitive demands of their profession.The assessment and shaping of values is a vital part of the educational process. It increases acceptance of responsibility and accountability and promotes individual contributions to the profession and to society. Preparation for practice necessarily includes opportunities that allow the individual to perform, compete, and thrive in a multidimensional professional environment. Goals The programs of the Division of Nursing are designed to achieve the following goals: 1. Provide a nursing program with a strong foundation in the liberal arts to serve as the essential basis for excellence in practice. 2. Prepare nurse leaders who are capable of meeting the multiple health care needs of individuals, families, aggregates, and communities in a global and changing environment. 3. Educate nurse leaders who are professionals committed to lifelong learning, engaged in civic activities, and participants in interdisciplinary practice and research. 4. Produce graduates that are health care change agents for diverse populations. Majors Offered The Division of Nursing offers three courses of study leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN). Students interested in nursing may enter the university as: 1) generic or transfer pre-nursing students, 2) transitional RN-BSN students, or 3) LPN toBSN students.
