Journalism from Delta State University is a Campus Bachelor Journalism degree that prepares you for a Communications career. The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism prepares students for roles as reporters and editors in print media. The program is headquartered at the heart of the Delta State campus, at the new S. Wayne Thompson Journalism Lab in the Nowell Union. The adjacent newsroom of the award-winning campus newspaper, The Delta Statement, offers an on-going opportunity for journalism students to hone their skills ? and at the same time serve, inform and entertain the university community. All Delta State journalism classes are taught by media professionals, under leadership of a veteran journalist with a long track record in newspaper, magazine and broadcast journalism. Small class sizes assure budding journalists the individual attention needed to develop essential skills in research, interviewing, writing, editing, and photography and page layout. Journalism students are able to build a broad foundation of liberal arts knowledge through strong connections with the university's outstanding curriculum. All journalism majors build a proficiency in at least one foreign language, and explore related interests such as video production, creative writing, and web design.
