The medical therapeutic massage program provides training in therapeutic massage with knowledge of structure and function of the human body. Students receive training in massage therapy procedures and techniques, allied modalities, hydrotherapy, law and ethics, the prevention of medical errors, assessment, medical office procedures, documentation, sports massage and current trends in the spa industry. The general education courses prepare graduates with advanced decision making skills as related to massage therapy and skin care. The program prepares students for the Florida State Board examination for licensure for massage therapists in the state of Florida. The licensed graduate is qualified for entry-level employment as a licensed massage therapist and may be employed in a medical facility, health spa, day spa or as an independent contractor.
