Completion of the Pre-Optometry program typically takes two years of study. After successful completion of the Pre-Optometry program students generally complete a four year undergraduate degree. After completion of a four year degree students must apply and be accepted to a school of optometry to continue their studies for an additional four years, for a minimum of eight years of college. The two years of study at the pre-optometry level (approximately 60 semester hours) may include courses such as; General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, General Biology or Zoology, Microbiology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Physics, Calculus, English Composition, Speech, Humanities Electives, Economics, Social/Behavioral Sciences Electives, and other electives.
