International Studies from Dana College is a Campus Bachelor International studies degree that prepares you for a Science career. The International Studies major at Dana College will prepare you for life and work in a global society by increasing your knowledge of world cultures and current issues, offering experience abroad and helping you become an effective communicator in multicultural settings. Students who major in International Studies will study language, communication, history, religion and political science. They also choose an emphasis area from religion/philosophy, history, international business and languages. All students in the major have opportunities to participate in immersion experiences abroad or in culturally diverse areas of the United States. Authentic cultural experiences begin right here on campus. Our Spanish and German classes are taught by native speakers who have experience teaching in a multitude of settings. Through Dana's Danish heritage, the college has many connections that will benefit you in your studies . Dana students may intern in the Danish American Archive and Library right here on campus or also at the Danish Immigrant Museum in nearby Elk Horn, Iowa. If you want to study abroad, Dana has a direct exchange program with Aalborg University in Denmark where you can study for a semester or a year by paying your regular Dana tuition. International study trips are available during our three-week January Discovery Term. Or you may choose to study a summer or semester abroad on your own. Dana students have recently studied in Denmark, Germany, Spain, Great Britain, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Argentina, Guatemala, Panama, Costa Rica and Thailand.
