EMT - Paramedic from Corning Community College is a Campus Associate Medical Emergency degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. To meet the demands of the ever-changing field of Emergency Medical Services, Corning Community College has joined with the Arnot Ogden Medical Center and EMSTAR Corporation to provide a comprehensive paramedic program. This relationship provides the best of both worlds--a clinical based setting with academic quality. As students are instructed in the theoretical practice of pre-hospital emergency medicine, they participate in various clinical experiences. These experiences are designed to refine the skills involved in patient care. The Paramedic Course is an 11-month course, during which students receive instruction in the practice of pre-hospital emergency medicine through lecture, labs, clinical and field training. During the clinical and field training, students have an opportunity to rotate through some of the most respected health care facilities in the area. While in training, each student completes a total of 308 hours of in-hospital clinical experience and 152 hours of field internship with area ALS ambulance services. Each student is assigned an experience paramedic who will serve as a preceptor and mentor throughout the course. General education and liberal arts courses produce a graduate with a well-rounded education, prepared to succeed and advance in the emergency medical services industry. Upon successful completion of the Paramedic courses, the student is eligible to sit for the New York State Paramedic Certification Examinations and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians EMT-P Examination.
