In the classroom, students learn photography skills, digital workflow, and professional business, legal, and ethical subjects in a structured curriculum that includes core classes, technical courses, and academics geared to their unique needs. The sophomore photojournalism core curriculum includes a fine-art component as well, reinforcing the unique artistic integrity of the program. Students in junior and senior core classes complete regular assignments that mirror professional experience and work on their own self-assigned, long-term projects. By the end of the senior year, each student is expected to have developed a portfolio of published and unpublished pictures that is suitable for finding a staff or free-lance position.
