Entrance requirements to this program include an associate of science degree in a Mechanical Engineering Technology program with appropriate coursework, including physical sciences and mathematics (through analytic geometry with calculus). Graduates from the CTC at WVU Tech's A.S. Mechanical Engineering Technology may enter directly into the program as juniors. Graduates of associate degree Mechanical (Engineering) Technology programs from the other institutions may enter the program directly as juniors based on an evaluation of their transcripts. This evaluation determines if additional lower division courses will be required to meet the prerequisites of the program. Using the general curriculum, a program of study can be designed to meet the student's background and career interests. Students selecting the Mechanical emphasis must have courses in statics, strength of material, fluid power, electrical circuits and machines, and mechanical design.
