Students also take specialized electives in the areas of microprocessor-based systems design, communications , control systems, power electronics, and power systems. The electrical engineering specialty at CSM has particular strengths in two key areas: (1) energy systems and power electronics (ESPE), and (2) sensing, communications, and control systems (SCC). In the ESPE area faculty have a strong connection to the local electric power utility industry as well as a focus on renewable energy, including wind and solar. In the SSC area faculty focus on robotics related technology, including image processing, computer vision, and mobile robots, as well as wireless communication and control theory.
