Recognize the scientific method and its place in our culture; state a problem, form a hypothesis, and design an experiment to solve the problem. Apply and evaluate written, oral, and other chemical knowledge obtained within the classroom that lends itself to other courses, life and employment options. Continue to visualize and conceptually understand the importance and rigor within the chemistry curriculum to help fully comprehend the various elementary forms of matter at the molecular level. Career Options Two career paths are possible within this program depending upon the level of the chemistry course taken. The introductory courses prepare a student for the allied health fields (nursing, respiratory therapy, dental hygiene, medical technology), some biological fields, elementary education, and business. Students taking the general chemistry sequence can prepare for transfer into chemistry, biology, geology, forensic, engineering, environmental science, oceanography, secondary education in science, or a pre-professional program such as medical, pharmacy, veterinary, dental, or chiropractic to name a few.
