Doctor's degree Educational Leadership from College of Saint Elizabeth is a Campus Ph.D Education Management degree that prepares you for a Education career. The College of Saint Elizabeth's Ed.D. program in Educational Leadership combines theoretical knowledge and practical application in an authentic school setting using the student's professional experience in school leadership. It is a sequenced 54-credit program to be completed during a three-year time frame. Applicants must have completed a M.A. degree in Educational Leadership , or a related field, from an accredited institution. In addition, candidates must demonstrate a record of outstanding academic success in prior graduate work Program Philosophy The program is designed to prepare globally conscious and morally purposeful servant leaders for district leadership roles in Pre-K to 12 settings. Its organizing principle, integrated into all coursework and activities, is that the school leader's primary purpose is to serve as a morally purposeful steward for the school community. Program Objectives The program assists degree candidates in the examination of leadership issues in their broadest perspective. Within the structure of the cohort model and a problem-based approach to the curriculum, the individual needs of each student are addressed. The student's professional experience in school leadership is used as a focal point and a laboratory for study and research, reinforcing the belief that effective leadership is based on both theoretical knowledge and its practical application in authentic school settings. Each cohort of approximately 20 students proceeds through a three-year sequence with other cohort students. A total of fifty-four credits (54) beyond the M.A. degree will be required as students work through a planned sequence of learning experiences to include: required courses, fieldwork, seminars, colloquia, institutes, web-based instruction and an action research dissertation. Throughout the varied learning experiences students will function as members of teams as they work collaboratively on the study, collection, and analysis of data, and on the development of research-based solutions to educational problems. Through the use of field-based work and technology applications, research teams will extend beyond the College to the larger community. Students will be expected to act locally, but think globally, as they use a variety of tools and resources autonomously, spontaneously, and creatively. Program Outcomes Upon completion of the doctoral program the students will be able to: 1. Commit to, and act upon, the principles of servant leadership 2. Demonstrate their role to prepare both themselves and the learning community to build a just society 3. Identify, promote, and sustain high performance learning communities 4.
