History, Society and Culture from Colby - Sawyer College is a Campus Bachelor Interdisciplinary Studies degree that prepares you for a Science career. A vital tool for understanding the social complexities that exist today is the ability to place them in historical context, to identify and understand the key events and trends in our past that have shaped the way we work, think and live in the present. This study of the past is not the province of any one academic discipline. This attempt to understand our history must be multi-faceted, drawing on ideas and insights from a range of humanities and social sciences disciplines. The History, Society and Culture Program (HSC) is founded on the idea that such a multi-disciplinary understanding of the past is a necessary tool for anyone seeking to understand and resolve contemporary social problems. History, society, and culture is a multi-disciplinary major that allows students to explore and learn how to understand past and present societies. Recognizing that broad historical knowledge is the starting point for any form of social study, history forms the core of the major, which is then enriched by perspectives and methods of other disciplines in the social sciences and humanities. Students will study American history and culture, gain a basic understanding of Western civilization since the Renaissance, and explore at least one culture beyond the United States. Students will learn to research, write, and teach about historical, social and cultural themes. The HSC Program prepares students for lifelong learning and careers in the fields of education, journalism, museum curating, and public history, as well as for graduate study in fields such as history, political science, and law. We prepare you for your future. View more details on Colby - Sawyer College . Ask your questions and apply online for this program or find other related Interdisciplinary Studies courses.
