The dual degree program was designed in consultation with an Accounting Advisory Board comprised of several prominent local and regional public accountants. Coe has traditionally had a strong accounting program which boasts four C.P.A.s as full-time tenured faculty members. As an accounting major at Coe, you will also benefit from a strong liberal arts curriculum that broadens your intellectual horizons and provides sound preparation for a successful career in a business or professional field. Many of our accounting majors sit for the C.P.A. exam, and our pass rate has historically exceeded the national average. Upon graduation, Coe accounting students have experienced excellent placement locally, as well as throughout the United States and the world, in Big Four Public Accounting firms, regional accounting firms, governmental agencies, and private industry. Opportunities include career paths as a public accountant, tax analyst, internal auditor, managerial accountant or financial analyst. Class size varies with the level of the course in the department, with most classes limited to 30 students. Enrollment in most upper-level courses is 15 or fewer students. This small class size allows for individualized attention. Upper-level accounting students are given the opportunity to work as paid tutors and conduct help sessions for introductory students.
