Cleveland faculty members take your training and your success personally. John Butler, D.C., the program director, has more than 25 years of experience in massage therapy and chiropractic. As both a teacher and successful practitioner, Dr. Butler brings a comprehensive and unique perspective to his students. The Massage Therapy program encompasses 650 hours. The first 300-hour phase, which takes just 16 weeks, allows the graduate to sit for licensing examinations in most California municipalities. Completion of the entire 650-hour program (32 weeks) qualifies you to sit for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. This program is designed to provide you with a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, business and ethics, while offering intensive training in Swedish, Deep Tissue and Sports massage. There will be an introduction to Asian theory and technique. Phase 2 of the program includes 100 hours of hands-on training in a clinical health center setting where you will develop your skills under the supervision of experienced and certified Massage Therapy instructors. This real-world experience is uniquely focused toward preparing you to become a respected component of the Allied Health team and a valuable complement to other health care providers. Cleveland's Massage Therapy program begins three times per year, in September, January and May. Classes are just 16 weeks in length, and you can go to work in as little as four months.
