Community Organizing from Claremont School of Theology is a Campus Master Religious Studies degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. In the last presidential election, the work of community organizing was tossed around as a glib punch-line. But like you, Claremont's faculty recognizes the critical place of community organizers and urban ministers in the landscape of the twenty-first century city. With an emphasis in Community Organizing, you will be equipped with the theoretical foundation, theological perspectives and practical skills to work in a variety of non-profit, grass-roots organizations, and religiously-affiliated community organizations. Many Claremont graduates have gone on to work in community-based organizations that serve a variety of urban contexts across racial/ethnic, religious, economic and geopolitical borders for the empowerment and liberation of the oppressed. An urban internship opportunity is also available with this concentration.
