This program is designed for students who want to teach English (and related subjects) at the secondary school level. General Requirements for the Department of English 1. The student must successfully complete the freshman English composition courses, ENGL 101 and ENGL 102 with a grade of "C" or above. If a student receives a "D+" or lower, she/he will be able to take one of the classes over to meet this requirement, but not both. 2. Once accepted into the program, a student must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above in her/his English courses. A student who falls below this level will have one semester, plus a summer, to raise her/his English GPA to the required 2.5. Program Requirements for the Major in English Education In addition to meeting the above requirements of English majors, English Education majors must also meet the following requirements: Apply and be accepted for admission to the Teacher Education Program.
