Students in CVTC's Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) program will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to work in a clinical laboratory. Upon graduation, the CLT will be able to demonstrate entry-level competency in the following areas of professional practice: collection and processing of biologic specimens for analysis. performance of analytical tests on body fluids, cells, and products. recognition of pre-analytical and analytical variables in laboratory testing. monitoring of quality control. performance of preventative and corrective maintenance on laboratory instruments. professional conduct in communication with patients, health care professionals, and the public. This program includes a 20-week internship which may require the student to relocate. Clinical internship sites include Amery, Ashland, Barron, Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Hudson, Menomonie, Rice Lake and Stanley, and are subject to change. This program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (www.naacls.org), PO Box 75634, Chicago IL 60675-5634. Graduates are eligible to complete the national certification examination for Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT).
