Students enrolled in this program will receive training and practical experience relating to installing, servicing, and maintaining refrigeration , air conditioning , and heating equipment. Training received in this program will give the individual the necessary skills of which can be applied to the following occupational areas: ? designing, computer-aided drafting (CAD), estimating, and marketing HVAC/R systems including forced air and hydronic for residential and commercial applications. ? researching, developing, and testing new equipment for HVAC/R manufacturers. ? installation of new and existing HVAC/R equipment such as boilers, water chillers, packaged heating/air conditioning rooftop units, forced air heating/air conditioning systems, and related digital, electronic, and pneumatics control systems for a wide variety of environmental applications. ? maintenance and service of HVAC/R equipment such as boilers, water chillers, packaged heating/air conditioning rooftop units, forced air handling/air conditioning systems, and related digital, electronic, and pneumatics control systems. To keep the program current with technology , the HVAC/R labs are maintained with the most modern equipment, test instruments, and computers available for instruction. The program prepares the technician to take the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification Exam for refrigerant recovery, recycling, reclamation and the Industry Competency Exam (ICE) sponsored by the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute for HVAC/R Technicians. Students can enter the program each August and January for daytime classes. The HVAC/R classes are also offered evenings to meet the needs of part-time students.
