The Department of Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Foundations offers a program leading to the Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership and Administration . The Educational Leadership and Administration program consists of Higher Education Administration option. The Higher Education Administration program provides the background and skills necessary for employment as an assistant dean, research assistant program director, student service director, or curriculum coordinator. A full academic schedule of courses for graduate students is nine semester credit hours. Exceptions to this policy may be made only with the approval of the Chair and/or the ELCF Graduate Planning Committee. Both options require completion of 36 semester credit hours for graduation at the master's level. All students enrolled in the programs options, after completing 24 semester credit hours of course work, must register for and: 1) successfully pass the required comprehensive examination; and, 2) successfully complete the required practica/internship. All degree requirements must be completed within six years. Higher Education Administration Option Students must meet the general requirements for admission to the graduate program. Admission to the Higher Education Administration Option does not require previous K-12 teaching or administrative experience, but two full years of educational work related experience at the elementary, secondary, or higher education level is required. In addition, applicants must: 1) present written verification of the two full years of educational work related experience from a school district or higher education personnel officer; and, 2) present written recommendations from two school administrators and/or supervisors familiar with the applicant's educational work related experience.
