Cardiovascular Sonography from Chattanooga State Technical Community College is a Campus Certificate Cardiology degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program offers Cardiovascular Sonography (Adult Echocardiography and Visceral & Peripheral Vascular Sonography). The program offerings begins each fall semester and is a 12-month program, providing specialty education to post-associate health care professionals. Full-time student status is required. The program includes both classroom and clinical assignments, equaling 40 hours of program time per week, excluding breaks. Classes are conducted two (2) days every other week, with a third laboratory day once per month. Clinical experience is obtained at approved clinical affiliates within the region for the remaining 1-1/2 weeks of program hours during each two-week cycle. All courses in the curriculum must be passed with a grade of "C" or higher in order to proceed to the next course in the sequence. Upon program completion, graduates may apply as candidates for certification through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Graduates of the program may also qualify as candidates of sonography certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
