Upholsterer & Slip Coverer Occupations from Charles A. Jones Skills and Business Education Center is a Campus Certificate Automotive degree that prepares you for a Engineering career. The Upholsterer & Slip Coverer Occupations program is designed to prepare students for entry level positions in an upholstery shop. Students may learn both auto and furniture upholstery skills. Students will learn the proper use of tools, material and how lay out fabric. The majority of instruction is spent working on projects in a shop environment. Projects can remain in the classroom as long a student is actively working on it. Skills Included: Identify and use hand tools Demonstrate measuring-up, laying out, and cutting fabric Course Description: The upholsterer program is an evening class. Monday/Wednesday is furniture and slipcover from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday/Thursday evening is automotive, boat and furniture from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The class is 6 hours a week for 16 weeks. Upholstery Certificate is given at 900 hours.
