Kitchen and Bath Design from Century Community and Technical College is a Campus Certificate Design degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. Century's one-of-a-kind Kitchen and Bath Design Program offers you a short, yet thorough education. Our 30 semester credit program is accredited by the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) and is the only stand-alone, one-year program in the United States. Our program: Provides you with the knowledge and practical skills needed for a successful career in kitchen and bath design. Prepares you to obtain either an entry-level or more advanced position in the industry, depending on your background. Please note: Our program has a fall-only start for all options. Program benefits include: Daytime classes, conveniently located at International Market Square, the major interior design center in Minneapolis, MN. Quick completion - The program can be completed in two semesters (full-time)or four semesters (part-time). Part-time (daytime or online) is customized for each student by faculty. Student memberships in the NKBA Chapter of their particular state. Membership in the Century College Student Chapter of NKBA. Graduates qualify to take the AKBD (Associate of Kitchen & Bath Design) certification exam. Required courses (Kitchen and Bath Design emphasis): Presentation standards (hand drafting) Construction and mechanical systems Basics of kitchen and bath design Materials and estimation Lighting Universal design and theme application Sales for kitchen and bath design Business practices for kitchen and bath designers Computer-aided-drafting specific to the kitchen and bathroom design industry Kitchen and/or bath-related design internship - minimum 160 hours. The core competencies of this program are based on specifications recommended by the NKBA. To meet the requirements for the NKBA qualifications, you must: Successfully complete the required curriculum Construct a portfolio of design course work Complete an internship within a kitchen and/or bath-related firm Kitchen & Bath Design is a multi-billion dollar industry. Areas of employment for new graduates may include: drafting CAD work kitchen or bath design project management, which includes completing specifications and ordering, working products such as cabinetry, appliances, fixtures, surfacing materials, and working with builders and remodelers.
